The Holidays are almost here and it is time to “Chill”!
I am not talking about the weather here! Chill can mean many things and for the holidays and pretty much anytime, it is a good idea to do it. To me, chill has often meant relax, slow down... and as I got older it has become meditation. Until recently (last ten years), it was really hard for me to slow down my mind—I had anxiety, stress and my sleep patterns were off. Today, my daily meditation helps me chill not just during those moments, but all day long (for the most part!). For holiday stress, it is a must for me.
As of late, chill has meant going into my cold plunge/ice bath. This has become a part of my daily routine and I am loving it. Several of you have asked me about it. Like many, I read a lot about it and followed others who swear by it, before committing (Wim Hof, Laird Hamilton, Rich Roll, Tony Riddle and others). Medical evidence is out there now, but what I can tell you from personal experience is that I find focus, better sleep, improved metabolism, relief from muscle soreness and body temperature regulation. It truly is a game changer. Let me know if you want to try it out sometime!
Lastly, I hope to chill the last few weeks of this year. It has been a fruitful, wonderful year and also an exhausting one. Coming out of the pandemic hasn’t been easy for many and change can be hard.
In the quiet though, I am reminded of everything I am so very grateful for, including a profession that I love and people that I get to do it with that make it fun and fulfilling. And of course family and friends. Sending love and peace this holiday season.
